Grayson and his mom Skyler came to the studio to get some posed newborn shots of him. We started in all white on the bean bag and then moved him into some colored set ups and ended with portraits with his mom.
When you book with me, I send you a guide with all the ways to prepare for your session in studio. One of the tips is that if you live within 30 minutes of the studio, feed your baby before you leave. They will get super sleepy in the car and be ready to do those posed and sleepy newborn shots. If you live farther away, plan on feeding baby upon arrival.
After the bean bag images, we will move on to swaddling the baby and placing baby in the different props (I will have every set up ready to go before your arrival). Sometimes the baby will want to eat- which is completely fine. It allows me to convert my bean bag set up back into my studio bed set up. All sessions are baby/child led and leave room for anything the baby needs. Sometimes newborns even eat more frequently during their session because they are more active than normal.
I always prioritize all white and neutral looks for your babies session. They offer a look that is timeless and completely about your baby. I will have other set ups incorporating color on stand by (prioritized by your color preferences I received in your questionnaire)- as long as baby is happy I will do as many of these as possible. When picking the colors you would like your baby in think of where you might be displaying these in your home and coordinate them to that room.
Prior to your session (and typically prior to the birth), I will have you look at my client wardrobe gallery and pre-select dresses that you are interested in wearing. My client closet is full of flattering dresses in all sizes. You can change in the room next door to my studio, or in studio while I am doing your babies portraits.
